Burke Fellows

The Burke Fellows program is a joint program between Alverno College and Schools That Can Milwaukee to develop the next generation of strong school leaders. This program combines Alverno’s Master’s in Administrative Leadership Program with a rigorous program of fieldwork and seminars. ​

First Stage

​First Stage has grown to become one of the nation’s most acclaimed children’s theaters and the second largest theater company in Milwaukee.  First Stage touches hearts and transforms lives through professional theater productions that engage, enlighten and entertain.  ​

Playworks Wisconsin

In partnership with the Burke Foundation, Playworks will transform Milwaukee Public Schools and improve the educational climate for the majority of elementary school children in the city. 

MKE Plays

The MKE Plays initiative, conceived by Milwaukee Common Council President Michael Murphy, aims to transform 12 of the city’s most deteriorated playgrounds into models for local collaboration and renovation.

Urban Education Fellows

The Urban Education Fellows Program (UEFP) was designed to improve the quality of education in independent private, parochial or charter schools in the greater Milwaukee area.

College Possible Milwaukee
Picture
College Possible makes college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. College Possible carry out this mission through programming that combines mentorship from near-peer mentors with an evidence-based curriculum. ​

Beyond the Bell

Beyond the Bell Milwaukee (BTBMKE) seeks to coordinate access, participation, data sharing, and quality improvement strategies among out-of-school opportunities for youth and teens ages 13-18. ​

Trinity Fellows

​The Trinity Fellows Program is a graduate fellowship program dedicated to developing urban leaders with a commitment to social and economic justice. Fellows participate in a 21-month study/work program while earning a master's degree in one of thirteen fields of study.

Cristo Rey Milwaukee High School

Since 1996, Cristo Rey high schools have offered hope. This education goes beyond the traditional classroom, however; it includes an education of the workplace. Students literally earn their college preparatory education by working in a professional environment.

Carmen School of Science and Technology

Carmen High School of Science and Technology is a small college preparatory school with a rigorous liberal arts curriculum that emphasizes the sciences and college and career readiness. The model integrates student internships and the internationally recognized Alverno College abilities-based educational framework, which articulates eight key competencies a graduate must demonstrate over the course of a liberal arts education. ​

Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra

The entire MYSO family is united by its dedication not just to training  future performers and music educators, but most importantly to using the arts to enhance all children’s lives, developing in many thousands of adults a much deeper appreciation of the arts in general—and fine music in particular.

MKE Scholars

The MKE Scholars program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is designed exclusively for students at UW-Milwaukee who are affiliated with a Burke Foundation-sponsored program. The purpose of the MKE Scholars program is to support the success of program participants by layering a series of high impact practices  to provide wrap-around services to support students while building a community of scholars.

Milwaukee Youth Arts Center

The Milwaukee Youth Arts Center is a contemporary performing arts education and rehearsal facility for the young people of southeastern Wisconsin. The building houses both First Stage and Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, along with a number of youth-focused arts programs.

Messmer Catholic Schools

Messmer Catholic Schools dedicate themselves to serving a diverse, urban population and providing their students with an education that represents the schools’ Catholic heritage. Milwaukee Academy of Science

Milwaukee Academy of Science is a K-12 public charter school located in the Avenues West neighborhood near downtown Milwaukee with a focus on STEM education. The mission of the Milwaukee Academy of Science is to graduate urban students prepared to compete successfully at the post-secondary level.

Silver Spring Neighborhood Center

Silver Spring Neighborhood Center has been helping the residents of Westlawn, Wisconsin’s largest public housing development, become self-sufficient, contributing members of society since 1958. The Opportunity Youth Program targets individuals 16-24 years old who are not in school and not employed. Participants are connected to educational and employment resources to help them reach their full potential.


Caroline Scholars Program

The Caroline Scholars Program is a four-year scholarship program for first-year, full-time undergraduate students with a passion for social justice. This highly selective program provides challenging academic work, leadership development, service learning opportunities and financial assistance that covers full tuition, room and board.

COA Youth and Family Center

COA Youth & Family Centers has operated a quality Early Education Center (EEC) at its Riverwest Center (909 E Garfield) since 1981. COA’s EEC has been NAEYC-accredited since 1998 and holds a five-star rating from YoungStar.

United Community Center
​

The United Community Center operates Bruce-Guadalupe Community School within its campus. The schools operate an academic program of high expectations and high performance in a bicultural environment where parental involvement is one of the cornerstones of education. ​

PEARLS for Teen Girls

PEARLS for Teen Girls has begun implementation of a 5- phased strategy to reach 10,000 girls, ages 10-19, in the City of Milwaukee to create transformational community change that overcomes the barriers facing local youth-poverty, teen pregnancy, staggering high school dropout rates particularly among youth of color, and high crime rates.

Burke Scholars

​The Burke Scholarship Program recognizes, honors and encourages lifetime development of a humanitarian ethic manifested in a commitment to serve others. It is awarded annually to 10 academically talented Wisconsin high school seniors who exhibit leadership in a manner that reflects exceptional commitment to community. 

Milwaukee College Prep

Milwaukee College Prep is a leading network of four K4-8th grade public charter schools that every child in Milwaukee is eligible to attend free of charge. A school where “knowledge plus character pave the road to college and beyond,” Milwaukee College Prep is absolutely determined to provide equal parts academic rigor and character development so that our scholars can determine their own destinies.

AVID/TOPS

The AVID/TOPS program is a collaborative effort among a variety of dedicated members of the community. In addition to the TOPS Staff, the AVID Coordinators, and the AVID Elective Teachers, each Madison high school has an AVID/TOPS site team. This group works together to thoroughly develop  and support the program at their site, ensure students have access to a rigorous curriculum, and analyze methods to improve student achievement. 

Nativity Jesuit Academy

Grace Scholars

The Grace Scholars Program (formerly the Midtown Scholarship Program) is a unique scholarship opportunity for Milwaukee area students who demonstrate good academic performance and financial need. The program provides young women leaders with academic, personal and financial support as they pursue their degree at Mount Mary. Each year, only 30  students are selected to be part of the program.

Sponsor A Scholar

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Milwaukee are the program leaders for the Sponsor-A-Scholar program, an initiative designed to enhance college access for underserved youth and support their ongoing academic and career success. Through both daily contact and weekly workshops at select Boys & Girls Clubs and school sites,Sponsor-A-Scholar high school student participants  benefit from academic tutoring and advising, assistance preparing for their ACT exams, and summer internship opportunities to develop skills needed in today’s workforce.

Running Rebels

The Running Rebels Community Organization Engages the community, youth, and their families, Prevents involvement in gangs, drugs, violence, and the juvenile justice system, Intervenes and guides youth by assisting them with making positive choices, and Coaches youth through their transition into adulthood.

Notre Dame School of Milwaukee

Notre Dame School of Milwaukee is a Catholic school sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame. Following in the Christian tradition, Notre Dame fosters respect, responsibility, and sharing of personal talents while preparing students for admittance to a college preparatory high school. In an English and Spanish bi-literate setting, emphasis is placed on leadership skills, critical thinking, and social justice while empowering students to make positive contributions to society.

Milwaukee Excellence Charter School

MPS Greener, Healthier Schoolyards Project
